What You Need to Be Doing on Load Day

Relocation day has finally here! You’ve spent a lot of time getting ready for this time, and if you took the time to hire a quality moving company, today will be a simple occasion. The movers will handle all the heavy lifting from here.

On relocation day it’s finally time to complete coordinating and start implementing. In the event you’ve not read any of the preceding articles of this series, you can read up by choosing the links below:

Take care of your stuff - and yourself!

It is always beneficial to get a very good night’s rest the night before load day —and don’t forget to eat a substantial breakfast. It is going to be a hectic day, and you will just feel better during the day if you are well rested and well fed. You’ll be happy you did!

On moving day, it’s imperative to be available during the process. When your crew members get there, provide them a short tour of your place, pointing out any delicate objects in need of extra protection as well as any items you don’t want the movers to take. This will permit them to get an idea for the space and your expectations.

We recommend having your favorite book or magazine picked out for relocation day. It’s important for you to be available throughout the process should any of the crew members have questions, but as soon as the crew members get to it you’ll have some free time on your hands. Since your TV and electronics will all be packed up, you’ll want to make sure you have something to keep you busy.

Attention to detail

After the walk through, the crew will initiate laying down flooring protection. If you’re transferring to another state, your crew chief will begin crafting a thorough inventory list of everything you are moving, and their condition at origin. This record will be used to ensure all items delivers at your new place in the same state as it left your current place.

When the mover’s are finished, it’s important to walk through the place one more time with the driver and ensure that all things have been loaded. Make sure to check all the closets, cabinets, and storage areas for any unnoticed pieces. When each piece is taken from of the house, you will discuss with the driver and sign all of the transportation paperwork.

One last review

After the crew members head out, end your moving day by going through your space one last time to make sure that the windows are all locked, the lights are all turned off, and your water and furnace are all set. Say your farewells to your home – it supported you well, but you have a new location waiting for you!
